Apple this week released software updates for the Apple TV and iTunes said that the company will focus on improving security and functionality.
Apple TV 2.2 update fixes three security problems found in earlier versions regarding malicious content. The defects involving maliciously crafted video files or PICT image files that could lead to unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.
With the upgrade, Apple TV users can now buy and download in high definition television programs from the iTunes Store directly to the device. The updated software also adjusts the user interface in the slideshow of pictures and player for YouTube, and offers a better standby.
In September, Apple will extend a playlist feature genius who creates a playlist like any music track chosen by the user of the library. The firmware 2.2 brings this feature to the Apple TV, but the device must be synchronized with a genius enabled iTunes library. Read More
